THE SPELL
THE SPELL is a one hour family musical, with lyrics and book by Arianna Rose, and music by Thomas Jacobsen. It deals with the social hierarchy in an elementary/middle school in a humorous and non-preachy manner, imparting some gentle lessons about The Golden Rule. The resident “Cool Kids” of Taft Academy are inadvertently transported to Planet Princess where they work as servants to the Goofy Princesses Monologua, Commedia, Crescenda, and Pirouetta, learning about collaboration and compassion. It features a cast of 18, with additional optional ensemble.
THE SPELL has had two workshops with a prior composer:
April 2019: MAD Performing Arts, N. Miami, FL
May 2015: Ft. Tilden Theatre, Rockaway, NY, May 2015. Commissioned by the Rockaway Artists Alliance.
This new version with music by Thomas Jacobsen is currently in development as of Fall 2025.
